African Utility Week 2009 encompasses the following key elements:

  • Conference
  • Exhibition
  • Pre-conference workshops
  • Vendor showcases

The unique training, networking and discussion platforms will demonstrate how utilities can be more efficient and offer cost-effective services through improved infrastructure maintenance, load management, delivery and revenue management choices.

This has become the annual forum for African and international experts to come together and discuss strategies as well as technical improvements to the power industry.

Focussing on standards and technology, case studies and a vision of the future, the conference has been streamlined into three distinct tracks: Generation Africa; Transmission & Distribution Africa; and Metering, Billing/CRM Africa. 5 years of African Utility Week – 10 reasons you have to attend this top class event!

    Opening panel discussion:

Panel discussion:  Africa’s big ‘5’ economies – South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Angola and the DRC – and the energy future

What a way to open this premier event!

Over the last 10 years, the African continent has enjoyed an uninterrupted period of economic growth with rates in the past five years exceeding 5% and foreign investment has grown from US$ billion in 2002 to US$53 billion in the last year but if Africa is to move forward in the next few years, Africa needs to address the shortage of energy and infrastructure which is a serious ‘brick wall’ to development in Africa. The big five economies on the international radar need to be the leaders in infrastructure and energy development.

Country, energy leaders, economists, experts and energy stakeholders will debate the path that these “economies of Africa” need to walk in the next decade to join the rest of the global energy market.
