Some 1700 power professionals from over 50 countries descended on Durban from 22-25 February for the largest utility event on the continent.

South African Energy minister Elizabeth Dipuo Peters delivered the welcome address during Tuesday's opening session. She was joined by her Public Enterprises colleague, Minister Barbara Hogan, and African energy ministers from Zimbabwe, Ghana, Kenya and Tanzania.

Opening session
The opening session was dedicated to the Energy Department's vision for the next 4 years. It was opened by Honourable Minister of Energy Dipuo Peters followed by the speech of Amb (ret.) Joseph Wilson and a panel discussion about driving investment within the African utilities sector. Photos
