Located in a residential area overlooking the River Congo, the Grand Hotel Kinshasa is a few minutes from the shopping centre, close to government buildings. Grand Hotel is a 5 Star hotel offering a wide range of facilities. It is situated 25 km from the International Ndjili Airport. It will take approximately 45 minutes to reach the airport.

Shuttle Service/ Taxi
There is a shuttle service to and from the airport, but this must be arranged with the hotel in advance; the trip takes about 45 minutes. It will cost about $40 from the airport to the hotel. Taxis are also available in front of the hotel.

About the Democratic Republic of Congo
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (Congo-Kinshasa) is located in Central Africa. It is the third largest country on the continent. The capital is Kinshasa. The official language is French. The local currency is the Congolese Franc, but dollars are widely accepted and travellers' cheques can be exchanged at two banks in Kinshasa.
The international time zone is GMT+1 and the international dialling code is +243
Electricity is: 220 V (two prong round)
SAFETY AND SECURITY: Maintain security awareness at all times. Drivers should also stop their cars when passing a government installation during the raising and lowering of the Congolese flag. This ceremony occurs at roughly 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Visitors who wish to travel in the mining areas must first obtain government approval.
MEDICAL FACILITIES AND HEALTH INFORMATION: In Congo-Kinshasa, medical facilities are limited, and medical materials are in short supply. Travellers should carry properly labelled prescription drugs and other medications with them. Kinshasa falls in a malaria zone.
FERRY SERVICE: The ferry service to and from Kinshasa and Brazzaville stops running in the late afternoon. If ferry service is functioning, a special exit permit from DRC's Immigration Services and a visa from a Congo-Brazzaville embassy/consulate are required for participants to cross the Congo River from Kinshasa to Brazzaville.

Our preferred carrier, South African Airways are offering delegates special fares over the period of the event on a first come, first serve basis. Early booking is strongly suggested as flights to, from and within South Africa are generally in heavy demand.
These fares are available for flights booked directly with SAA on their Intercontinental, Regional and Domestic services subject to the relevant class availability. Conditions will apply. Any flights undertaken on foreign carriers will be for the delegate’s own account. Enquiries can be made immediately by contacting your nearest SAA office.
