The program recognizes industry leaders who have made outstanding contributions to the utilities metering sector in North America between 2000 - 2009 for programs, projects or services.

Electric and Gas Advanced Metering Project:
Honoring the most innovative implementation of advanced metering in North American electricity and gas utilities.

“AMI in Ontario, Canada: Utilities Unite To Meet Government Mandates”

Five large Ontario electric utilities joined forces, sharing expertise and information with each other, as well as stakeholders such as the Ontario Utilities Smart Meter (OUSM) working group. This collaboration is what makes the CLD’s metering project so extraordinary and worthy of being named the most innovative implementation of advanced metering among gas and electric utilities in North America.

Water Advanced Metering Project:
Honoring the most innovative implementation of advanced metering in North American water utilities.

City of Ann Arbor, MI

The successful Ann Arbor AMI deployment is significant to the industry because it clearly demonstrates how small municipal utilities with a lot less resources than the big IOUs, but with the same needs, can successfully deploy and leverage an AMI system to capture the data to power the online applications needed for extraordinary customer service.

Meter Data Management Project:
Honoring the most innovative implementation of meter data management systems in North American utilities.

Portland General Electric Company, Oregon, USA

PGE recognizes the importance of establishing and proving out its MDM before initiating an advanced metering system.  It is an example for the industry of the value of sophisticated MDM systems in helping utilities leverage AMI technology and creating viable platforms for a new energy age that will feature robust demand response programs and smart grid implementation.

Customer Service Project:
Honoring the most innovative implementation of customer service programs in North American utilities

PPL Electric Utilities, Pennsylvania, USA

The implementation of Aclara’s ENERGYprism® Customer Care solutions to support PPL Electric’s customer service representatives in the call center, as well as an online self-service application, has enabled PPL Electric to quickly analyze a bill and therefore reducing the length of calls by allowing the call center to provide customers with quick answers to their inquiries.
