The metering industry is facing monumental changes – the emergence of the smart grid, new communications technologies, new standards, the rise of advanced metering, increased meter data, energy efficiency, end-customer issues, new component solutions, globalisation – are all shaping the way meter systems are architected, designed, styled, packaged and manufactured.

The World Meter Design Congress provides the only meeting place for the worlds meter design engineers, system architects, research engineers and production professionals to gain insights into the new requirements and opportunities shaping the design and development of next generation metering systems.

Event highlights:

  • International exhibitors displaying the latest technologies
  • Separately bookable pre-conference workshop on communication standards:
The standards workshop gives an introduction of TDL and EDL for use by AMI systems that are deployed over ANSI C12.19 tables and ANSI C12.2 networks. It is specifically aimed at the technical audience of the World Meter Design Congress, which targets engineers and system architects.

Welcome to the 1st World Meter Design Congress …

On behalf of Metering International I am delighted to invite you to participate in the 1st World Meter Design Congress. The meter has long been key for energy measurement and billing. Now new technologies and environmental concerns are moving the meter out from “under the stairs” to becoming a functional consumer energy device and the enabler of smart home energy management and smart grid operations. Design considerations – appearance, functionality, reliability, interoperability and cost, among others – are critical in this new role. The World Meter Design Congress will provide the forum for engineers, researchers, component manufacturers, vendors and utilities, to review these and other topical issues in the development and manufacture of the next generation of meters.
